BEAMx came about from a need in our Muslim community for high quality, trusted youth mentors, that can provide real insight into various career paths, and show how they can connect with our deen. Structured with the same techniques and goals used by top leading youth mentors nationwide, BEAMx has been highly rated by parents, Imams and youth leaders as the perfect avenue for career guidance and Islamic inspiration that our youth desperately need. Too many high school Muslim teens report feeling unprepared for selecting college majors that resonate with their future aspirations, or feel a disconnect between Islam and work life. BEAMx fills in that void that many HS/college guidance counselors cannot provide. With BEAMx, teens engage with professionals in the fields they aspire to be in, getting a real view of what different careers are like, and how those fields can keep us connected to the deen. 

 

BEAMx uses a strategy proven to better prepare youth for selecting college majors and career paths that fall in line with their aspirations and skills, without losing sight of their Islamic obligations.

*Demonstrated interest - Did candidates actively involve themselves in the selected career field during MS/HS?

 

*Essays - Are students able to exhibit what sets them apart from other candidates? Do they have a knowledge base and understanding of the field already developed from early exposure and hands-on experience in the field?

 

*College Recommendation Letters - Do candidates have credible professionals in the field who have observed and can confirm the student’s level of passion and capabilities in their respective area of interest?

 

*Extracurricular Activities / Internships -

Have students received a realistic, unbiased sense of what the specific field involves? Have they experienced a thorough, well-put-together program exposing them to different aspects of the career, to know whether or not they will truly like it?
